Blogger Recognition AwardI want to first start off by saying thanks to Paul from Daddy Goes Bananas (Parenting Unpeeled) for nominating me for this award! I am so grateful for the opportunity and am so thankful for the chance to pass it on to others.

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

I’m so glad you asked! It’s an award give to bloggers by other bloggers to show appreciation for the work and dedication that goes into blogging. (Can I say blog one more time?)

Basically, blogging is some hard work. It’s not just slapping words into a doc and hitting publish. It’s a lot of multiple plates spinning all at once, and making sure not to drop any. At the same time – for me personally – it’s amazingly rewarding. Each time I complete a piece of the puzzle, I step back and think, wow, I did that!

Award Rules

I’m very proud and honored to receive this award. The rules for receiving this award are as follows:

– Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
– Write a post to show your award
– Give a brief story of how your blog started
– Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
– Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to
– Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

About Daddy Goes Bananas (Parenting Unpeeled)

Paul is from the UK and is a children’s entertainer by the name of Mr. Banana Head. If that doesn’t peak your curiosity to visit his blog, nothing will!

Paul’s worked wide a variety of jobs but it’s clear he’s found his calling both as an entertainer and blogger. He fell into his current career when his young daughters had a joint birthday party at home. From there he started booking weekend jobs, and and a year later was able to become Mr. Banana Head full time.

As you can imagine, he’s hilarious and fun, painting amazing imagery with his words. His style of writing and ability to tell a story are inspirational. I can’t even begin to imagine how much fun he’d be at a kid’s party, and I can’t wait to read more about his crazy antics!

About Debt Free Forties

I’d been kicking around the idea of starting a blog for about a year now, but finally made the leap in July 2017. I have all the technical background, but lacked the marketing and networking skillsets that are involved for blogging to be truly successful. Luckily, I love to learn, love a challenge, and love to work hard. After working through a lot of ecourses and doing tons of research, Debt Free Forties was created!

I chose personal finance because it’s something that I’ve always had a passion for. Ever since i was young, I’d read articles on personal finance tips and tricks. Does that mean I’m a millionaire at the tender age of 39? Heck no. But this site is a great way to not only set financial goals, but to hold myself accountable and make sure I reach them.

My Advice to New Bloggers

Have patience and persistence. Think of a snowball, rolling down a hill. It starts out small, but as it rolls, it picks up more and more snow until it’s huge. It’s the same with blogging. It takes time to figure out what works for you, and what your definition of success is. Anything worth having is worth waiting for, right? Give it time, and keep doing those small actions that eventually build into big results.

Join blogging communities, create a mastermind group, or surround yourself with like-minded folks. The more knowledgeable people you have around you, the better. Give more than you get from these folks – it’ll always pay off in spades. Your mom, sister, husband or friend aren’t going to “get” blogging, so you’re better off bouncing questions and ideas off of people in the trenches who understand.
